Microgreen & growing sets in the test

    Table of contents

Microgreen these days - and just before winter, they couldn't have chosen a better time to pursue exciting questions, such as whether microgreens Microgreen strengthen our immune system or whether there might even be more in them than in a fully grown vegetable plant...

To do this, a team of reporters from WDR set out on Germany's streets - and the answers from passers-by were very surprising, as they certainly couldn't recognize broccoli or radishes in the small green sprouts (at first glance) or even remotely suspect them...

You can't blame them, because there is still a lot of ignorance about the tiny microgreens and their benefits on our plates in this country!

Hopefully this won't be the case for much longer... and especially not after the all-important laboratory test by WDR at Fulda University!

Rocket, radishes and broccoli their paces in a laboratory sample vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene per 100g ), along with their fully grown vegetable brothers and sisters...

And the little leafy greenlings didn't let us down!

    Broccoli:
Over 100 times more vitamin E was found in the broccoli Microgreen broccoli and the green herb also beats the finished plant beta-carotene . Only when it comes to vitamin C does it have to admit defeat to ripe broccoli.

    Radishes:
The radish Microgreen has a much higher vitamin E content than the bright red radish vegetable, it also has 6 times more beta-carotenes and only when it comes to vitamin C does it lose out to the radish.

    Arugula:
The clear winner Microgreen in the sample is arugula !
In all three categories examined ( vitamin A, vitamin C and beta-carotene ) it beats the mature rocket in all respects !

All in all, a huge 7:2 victory for Microgreen over “normal vegetables” !

Microgreen , you probably already knew the answer to one or two questions that WDR asked, but we are of course happy to have one or two new additions to our ever-growing fan base of sprouts & Microgreen welcome!

In the second part of the WDR contribution, he set out to test different cultivation trays and variants and also sent our Grow-Grow Nut into the race for the top places among the contenders!

Broccoli, radishes and rocket – these varieties had to withstand the critical eyes of the testers who were tasked with growing Microgreen and trying out different Microgreen sets.

Grow-Grow Nut , the Microgreen s Starter Kit from Heimgart and conventional potting soil and organic soil including sprouting seeds and organic sprouting seeds from the hardware store were examined

which winners were ahead in the end and which Microgreen varieties impressed the testers in terms of taste in the WDR media library: New food trend: Microgreen - unfortunately no longer online 🙁

But we can tell you this much: Grow-Grow Nut definitely didn't end up in the bottom places
